Arbitrum will airdrop 1B+ tokens ($ARB) today, March 23. And they will transition to become a DAO.
Here are the key things you need to know:
L3s are “L2s for L2s”. L3s still retain the security guarantees of an L2 but have the potential to provide a massive increase in scalability.
L3s are well suited for use cases like order-book exchanges, games, or other high-throughput use cases.
Orbit is permissionless. Developers can create an L3 that settles to an Arbitrum Chain without requiring the permission of the DAO.
Orbit will also be compatible with Arbitrum Stylus, which will enable developers to build dapps in traditional programming languages including C, C++, and Rust.
$ARB will only be used to participate in the Arbitrum DAO.
The airdrop will be worth US$2.14B, estimated by @AvgJoesCrypto. Price per $ARB token: ~$1.84. More on this, here.
Early users can get a lot. The majority of early Arbitrum users will be allocated 625 $ARB, estimated by @decryptmedia.
The highest allocation per address is 10,250 ARB tokens, where roughly 4,400 wallets could receive anywhere between $6,500 and $20,600 in tokens.
$ARB allows Aribitrum users to govern the project, like a DAO. The DAO will be self-executing.
Whoever holds ARB gets to vote. When there’s a majority vote, changes will automatically be carried out on-chain.
Towards a fully decentralized “Arbitrum,” $ARB allows Aribitrum users to govern the project, like a DAO.

Finally, with $ARB airdrop worth >$1B, a lot of liquidity will trickle into its ecosystem products.
a decentralized perpetual exchange that allows users to trade BTC and ETH with up to 50x leverage and no price impact
a decentralized perpetual exchange that aims to provide traders with experience comparable to CEXes
a lending protocol with omnichain liquidity
a decentralized perpetual exchange offering leveraged trading on crypto, forex, stocks, commodities and indices
a decentralized gaming ecosystem connecting games and players
a decentralized options protocol based on an AMM model

the Arbitrum native DEX with some fancy features and smart tokenomics
a Multichain Yield Optimizer
a decentralized options platform with market-driven pricing via an AMM
